Not sure how it started, it was already being used when I joined the team. We use hands to estimate stories (need two hands for 8+) and tasks (usually below 5 pairing sessions, so one hand). We did the &amp;quot;ready?... go!&amp;quot; thing for a while, but to speed things up even more people just started raising their fists when they&amp;#39;re ready to vote. Creates some subtle peer pressure to not debate forever as well. The ScrumMaster calls &amp;quot;go&amp;quot; when all fists are up.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I like the power-of-two/one-hand approach, and the energy of &amp;quot;Ro-Sham-Bo... Shoot!&amp;quot;.
