“When will you be done?” How to talk to leaders and others with Ryland Leyton

DESCRIPTION:
We will demystify velocity and shows you how to talk about agile work planning and projections in a way that will make sense to business customers while remaining fully agile.

LEARNING POINTS:
*Understand how to communicate the status of an agile work effort in business terms.
*Understand the metric of team velocity, and some factors that influence it higher and lower.
*Understand foundational concepts and techniques in high-level work planning using t-shirt sizing.
*Understand what the “cone of uncertainty” is and how to calculate it for your work.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER:
Ryland Leyton, CBAP, PMP, CSM, is a business analyst, author, speaker, educator, agile coach, and technology translator. He has worked in the technology sector since 1998, starting off with database and web programming, gradually moving through project management and finding his passion in the BA field. He is Lead Business Analyst and Agile Coach at Aptos.com, is passionate about strong analysis practice and is the well-known author of “The Agile Business Analyst: Moving from Waterfall to Agile”. Ryland is a frequent presenter at conferences all around the US and Canada.
